Project Endor

Denmark's first commercial-scale facility producing sustainable aviation fuel from renewable electricity and CO2

Project Endor is Arcadia eFuels’ landmark plant at the Port of Vordingborg. When operational, it will produce approximately 67,000 tons of electro Sustainable Aviation Fuel (eSAF) annually, cutting aviation emissions by up to 98% compared to conventional jet fuel, and helping Europe meet its binding clean fuel mandates.

About the Project

What is Project Endor?

Project Endor will be Arcadia eFuels’ first commercial-scale eSAF production facility, located at the Port of Vordingborg in southern Denmark. The plant will use renewable electricity to produce green hydrogen, which is then combined with biogenic CO₂ to synthesize clean jet fuel (a process called Power-to-Liquid).

The fuel it produces can be used directly in today’s aircraft engines with no modifications. It’s a drop-in replacement for fossil jet fuel, with up to 98% lower greenhouse gas emissions.
With a wide range of partners, vendors, and suppliers, the project is also co-funded by the EU Innovation Fund.

FAQ

Common questions

Why is this happening in Vordingborg?

Vordingborg offers excellent access to renewable energy, a deep-water port for logistics, and strong municipal support. The Port of Vordingborg provides the space and infrastructure needed to build at commercial scale.

SAF is a type of sustainable aviation fuel made from renewable electricity, CO2 and water. Unlike bio-based SAF, which is made from feedstocks such as used cooking oil or plant oils, eSAF is not limited by the availability of biomass and does not compete for agricultural land. It is chemically near-identical to conventional jet fuel and must deliver at least 70% lower greenhouse gas emissions than the fossil fuel it replaces.

Project Endor is currently in active development and targeted to meet the 2030 mandate. We share milestone updates on this page as the project progresses.

The plant is designed to have a minimal environmental footprint. It will create around 70 direct jobs and 100–200 indirect jobs in the region, supporting the local economy and providing high-skill employment in Vordingborg.

Yes. Project ENDOR is backed by experienced investors. Demand for eSAF is growing rapidly due to EU mandates, creating a strong long-term market. In addition, Project Endor has received a €54 million grant from the EU Innovation Fund.

About the Project

Backed by European public investment

Project Endor has been awarded a €54 million grant under the EU Innovation Fund, one of the world’s largest funding programmes for innovative low-carbon technologies. The Innovation Fund is 100% financed by the EU Emissions Trading System.

This grant reflects the EU’s confidence in Arcadia eFuels and the critical role eSAF will play in meeting Europe’s climate goals.
